3 Simple Steps to get ready to go back to high school!

With the carefree fun and lazy vibes of summer slipping away from us, there comes a time when every high school student must prepare themselves for the dreaded return to school. With classes, homework, and projects approaching quickly, here are some tips to make getting in back-to-school mode a little bit less painful. 

 

1. Start fixing your sleep schedule early!

Summer can inspire many late nights accompanied by Netflix, friends, and wacky sleep schedules. 1-2 weeks before school is set to start, gradually start resetting your bedtimes so that they start occurring earlier. This will make waking up early for school much easier and you won’t have to start your mornings feeling groggy and miserable! 

 

2. Organize!

Setting yourself up with a nice clean slate before you start a new school year is a great way to make sure that you’ll be productive from the get-go. By organizing your room and your desk, you will be decluttering your workspace and giving yourself peace of mind when you have to start completing assignments later on. Doing work on a messy desk or in a room full of trash is not motivating! Make sure to toss out any stray papers that you no longer need and organize your pens, journals, and materials so that you know where everything is. You’ll be making it easier for yourself to actually find what you need during the school year!

 

3. Pick-Me-Up Shopping!

There is nothing like a little bit of retail therapy to help boost your mood! When I was in high school, the thought of saying goodbye to the blissful days of summer and going back to school used to always fill me with disappointment and gloom. However, going back-to-school shopping always helped to ease my negative feelings. Buying new school supplies and taking advantage of seasonal clothing sales has never failed to make me feel better and even a little bit excited!

If all else fails, remember to put on a smile and remind yourself that everything will be okay. You’ve gone back to school before and you can definitely do it again!
